GOOD FRIDAY

Good Friday…so why is the day that Jesus was tortured and crucified called “good?”

As we look at how Jesus was treated, I think we definitely can say that what He endured was not good.

So again…why is this day called Good Friday?

There is no Easter Sunday without Good Friday. There is no Resurrection without the Cross.

Sometimes it’s difficult to understand that what we consider a “bad” thing could actually end up achieving good results.

Jesus chose to suffer the Cross to bring about our redemption…to reinstate our position with God that was lost in the Garden.  There are consequences to sin. What an awesome Love that Jesus chose to bear the consequence of our sin on the Cross.  No, the suffering of Jesus wasn’t a “good” thing – but it was necessary to bring about our good standing with God once again. The result of the Cross was definitely good!

Because Jesus understands the importance of being willing to lay down our lives for a new life, He instructs us to take up OUR cross and follow Him.

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16:24-25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

No, we don’t have to be nailed to a physical cross to be a disciple of Jesus – but, He does call us to be willing to exchange our old life for a new life in Him. And this can be a difficult thing indeed!

Are we willing to let go of our plans, our desires, our way and allow Jesus to place His life in us? If we want to have life eternal with God – then we must embrace the cross – His and our own.

Good Friday – a day to remember the GOOD that was accomplished through the absolute LOVE of JESUS!! He took our sins upon Himself so we could have eternal life with Him. And that was indeed a “good” thing!!

Ahhh, Jesus! I am overwhelmed with the revelation of what You were willing to endure for us. You chose the Cross. You chose the Cross for us so we wouldn’t have to pay the price/penalty for our sin. Lord, help me to choose to pick up my cross and follow You. May I place all of my selfish desires and my self-focus on the cross and follow in Your footsteps of humility and love. May I join You on this Day of the Cross and follow You to the Day of Resurrection! Amen!

JESUS Name Above All Names!

JESUS! What a powerful, precious name to be on our lips and in our hearts. There is something about just speaking that name in all of our circumstances and wherever we are. There is power in the name of Jesus!

God Himself gave Jesus His name. His name holds power, grace, love, redemption, healing, deliverance and much more.

“…God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

As we speak the name of Jesus, our thoughts and attention are drawn away from all the turmoil around us and we are able to focus on the One who can calm the storm…and has given us the authority and power to calm the storm in His name!

Oh my friends! Do you carry the name of Jesus? Do you carry His presence? Are you walking as an ambassador of Christ?

Vision: I see a huge rubber stamp like one that is used to stamp a signature onto a letter or official document. I see the name of JESUS being stamped upon me! And dear friends the name of Jesus is upon you if you have accepted Him as your Lord and Savior.

Prayer: Dearest Jesus, thank You for calling me Your own! Thank You for placing Your name upon me and inviting me to walk this journey with You! Amen!

The Spirit of Wisdom & Revelation…

Beloved of God,

“I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.”

(Ephesians 1:16-23. ESV)
