Who Do YOU Say That I Am?

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.” ~Matthew‬ ‭16:15-17‬ ‭NASB‬‬

I believe that Jesus asks each of us, “Who do YOU say that I am?

Our answer has a great effect on how we live day to day. And I believe that our answer may change over time as we get a deeper revelation of Who He is!  Not that our original answer is wrong…but that we will begin to understand who He is more fully!  Hallelujah!! What would your answer be to Him today?

OUR PATH GUIDE

deer 5

The Sovereign LORD is my strength;  He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.  ~Habakkuk 3:19

I am so thankful that the Lord is my strength!  I must not rely on others to strengthen me…I must not rely on good books to strengthen me…I must not rely on anything that is physical to give me the strength I need.  Physical things are temporary; people can let you down….BUT GOD!!  He will never let us down.  He is always there to refill us time and again with His strength!  Our strength will fail, but His strength will never fail.  His strength is always there for us. Thank You, Lord!!

He has made our feet like “the feet of a deer.”  As the deer’s feet are made to grip and be able to stand firm and move confidently on the unlevel and upward path of the mountains…so our feet are made to stand firm and move confidently upon the upward path that the Lord has called us to.

God makes us walk on our “high places.”  What high places has He called you to walk upon?  The path may seem too challenging.  The top may seem too high, too far away. But, the Lord is our Path Guide.  He will place out feet upon ground we can trust to hold us.  For He is our ground!

*I have a vision of mountain climbers. You know how someone who is inexperienced is hooked by a guide rope to the experienced climber. He goes ahead and leads the others to where they should follow.  As long as he is hooked and connected to the guide…he will know exactly where to step.*

Ahhhh Lord! Thank You for leading us. Thank You for attaching yourself to us. It is never Your desire for us to wander from the path. May we never choose to unhook that guide rope! We are lost without You!

FORGIVENESS

“Everyone thinks forgiveness is a lovely idea until he has something to forgive.”              ~CS Lewis, Mere Christianity

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.   (Ephesians 4:32  HCSB)

The Lord is teaching me more and more that forgiveness is an absolute necessity if we want to be able to live our lives in the fullness that He desires for us.

As we walk this journey that unfolds before us, it is almost certain that someone at some point will offend us or hurt us with their words or actions.  And it is almost certain that at some point in our lives we will say or do something that will offend or hurt someone else.

I know that I have had regrets and sorrow at things that I have said or done that I realized later were not how I am to behave in love.  I have first gone to the Lord and asked His forgiveness…and then gone to the person and asked their forgiveness.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  (1 John 1:9  HCSB)

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, may we intentionally walk in forgiveness in the days ahead.  Unforgiveness is like a spiritual cancer that eats away at our witness for Christ. It hinders us from being able to Love like He desires us to Love.  If you are holding onto any unforgiveness in your life…seek the Lord today!  Let HIM touch that sore place in your heart and spirit and begin the healing that is necessary.

Jesus is our example!  While on the cross, suffering deeply – emotionally, spiritually, and physically – He said, “Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing.”  (Luke 23:34  HCSB)

Beloved, with Jesus’ help, LET IT GO!

“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you.”    ~Corrie Ten Boom

The Lord wants you to walk in FREEDOM!!  May you find that freedom today through forgiveness…

DO YOU KNOW HIM?

Do you know how much you are loved?

I know Someone who willingly laid down His life for you and has a “bank account” with unlimited funds with your name on it!

I know Someone who loves you so much that He is ready to protect you from anything and everything that would want to cause your destruction.

I know Someone who has an undying love for you and wants to be with you every second of the day and night 24/7.

Do you know this Someone, too?

OPEN DOORS

img_1098-1

We are not to walk through every “open door!”  It is important to discern which open door is for us…which door is from the Lord…and which door is a distraction that would lead us away from God’s best.

We have many choices in our lives. Some choices we know are not good even as we choose them. (Why do we do that!).  But, I thank God that He is able to teach us and use even our bad choices to help us grow.

Sometimes the choices before us are “good” ones and we see no problem with choosing them – especially if it will give us pleasure.  But, even the good choices can become a distraction and lead us away from where the Lord would have us invest our time and energy.

How do we know which choice to make…which door to walk through?  We know by seeking the Lord and by seeking the counsel of godly friends.  God is our Guide; our Wisdom; and the Light that shines upon His path for us and the door we should walk through.

So!  If you are ready for a change in your life and ready to walk through HIS open door – GET READY! He is opening doors right now that will lead us into new territories; new opportunities to influence those around us for His glory; and new ways of doing ministry!

GET READY!!

LEAVE THE VALLEY BEHIND!

“God does not further our spiritual Life in spite of our circumstances, but in and by our circumstances.”   ~Oswald Chambers

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”      Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭NASB‬‬

It is comforting to me to realize that no matter what happens in my life, God can use it to mold and shape me into a better person.  He can use circumstances to give me a greater understanding; a deeper revelation; and a deeper love for those that have gone through the same thing.

He uses circumstances that could devastate and destroy us as tools to draw us closer to Him.  He uses these times to exhibit His strength as we are at our weakest.

Beloved, are you in a valley right now?  Do you feel the darkness around you and believe there is no way out?  Do not fear!! God is with you!  HE HAS A PLAN!!

His plan is to guide you through the darkness into the Light!  His plan is to release His peace and strength within you so you can climb out of the valley with Him.  And as you look back on this “valley time” you will see how God used this time to raise you to greater heights!

Look up!!  Do you see the Lord’s hand reaching out to you?  Grab it and leave the valley behind!!

TOUCHDOWN!

There are many ways to express joy! Our joy can be expressed in song; in dance; in our facial expressions; and in our shouting out our joy (I think this is where the “noise” comes in).

Have you ever felt such joy that you just had to SHOUT? I know I have shouted out an AMEN when my pastor says something that stirs up the joy within me. And I have been known to shout out a WOO HOO when my joy is spilling over.

Brothers and Sisters, it’s okay to get a little “noisy” when we are swept up in joy! It’s okay to break forth in songs of joy and clapping our hands in joyous excitement!

There is a time to quietly adore our majestic God. And there is a time to get excited…and yes, a little noisy, about our GREAT GOD!!!

Have you seen the excitement and joy at a football game? People are swept up in what is going on and cannot sit in their seats! They cannot be quiet in their joy of seeing their team score a touchdown!!

Our God has scored the ultimate touchdown!! He has won the game!! Sin no longer has a hold on us! We have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!! Beloved, isn’t that something to get excited about!!
