Where is Your Focus?

It’s important what we focus on each day! Do we focus on everything that we think is “wrong” in our life? Or do we focus on what is good? One choice brings anxiety, fear and helplessness. And one brings joy, peace, and strength. Everyday is a new day! What do you choose to focus on today?

The Heart of Jesus

**Posted 15 years ago…but still for today! I remember this encounter with Jesus like it was yesterday:

On the Fourth of July, as my church joined many others to pray for our country, I found myself praying a prayer that I had been praying for the last few months. “May I have Your Heart, Lord.” I had been praying this prayer because I know that it is only through the Heart of Love that I can pray as I should.

I prayed that morning that I would feel what He(Jesus) felt as He looked at our country…that I would know His Heart. Well, Jesus answered my prayer as I sat in the front pew after taking communion. As I sat in the pew and watched my fellow brothers and sisters file past me, I knew that the Lord had His Hand upon me. I couldn’t get up from my seat. I knew that “something” was coming.

Usually, when church is over, I hop out of my seat and begin speaking to my friends and visitors. I don’t know what went through their minds as they may have noticed Tina still sitting in the front row, alternately staring into space and closing her eyes in prayer. Even then, I could feel a sadness begin to overtake me…tears very slowly began to trail down my face.

The Lord held back until the church was almost empty…and then it came. A deep sadness overtook me and I found myself weeping with deep heaving sobs. This type of deep intercession has happened to me a few times in the past. Some people call it “travailing.” One place that speaks of this kind of intercession is in Galatians 4:19 where Paul is talking to the Galatians: My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. I believe that God is in a time of “birthing” or releasing new things upon the earth. He is looking for those that will partner with Him to be His “vessels” of birthing. It is not the kind of intercession that can be “worked up.” I believe it is the Holy Spirit praying through us.

So, Jesus answered my prayer. I felt His Heart, I knew His sadness as He looks upon our nation and sees those things that go against His Heart for us… But, He didn’t stop there. I began interceding for not only our nation, but for the world, for Israel and for my church. Oh, my brothers and sisters! I believe that the Lord is looking for those that would be willing to ask for His Heart…that would be willing to be used as His vessels of intercession now upon this earth. Do not take it lightly! His Heart is not an easy thing to carry.

Ever since He answered my prayer, I find myself at times being “caught up” in His Heart. I look at others and the love I feel for them is so much deeper than it has been in the past. I thought I loved them…but I realize now that the kind of love that God wants us to walk in is not something we are capable of. It is only through allowing the Love of God to flow through us that we can truly love.

We are called to be the Body of Christ on this earth. I pray continuously for the Lord to let me be His Hands, His Feet and His Mouth as I walk out my destiny and calling. But, recently I have added to that request…..Lord, let me be Your Heart. I have come to the realization that no matter what He has me do…no matter what He has me say…it MUST be covered and infused with His Love, His Heart.

Beloved of God, will you join me today and ask for the Heart of Jesus? He is calling His Bride to Himself…He wants to join His Heart to ours. Are you willing…

According To His Will

“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:14-15‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Prayer works!  Prayer makes a difference!  May we never take it for granted, but may we see it for what it is. Prayer is our communication with Almighty God AND it is His communication with us.

We should always be praying with an open heart and a listening ear as we position ourselves to hear from our Lord and pray HIS will and desire for every situation.  Praying HIS will and not our own is what will result in answered prayer. 

As a follow-up to prayer, we may be called to declare and decree God’s Word out loud over a situation or over a place. We are God’s voice on the earth!!  He uses us to PRAY His will, to SPEAK His will, and to DO His will!!  HALLELUJAH!!

Father God, what a blessing to be able to join You in holy conversation! What a joy to be in Your presence and hear Your voice! Oh Lord! Help us to speak Your will boldly and with the authority You have given us!! May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven! In Jesus’ Name! AMEN!! ~~Tina K. Roach

Draw Near!

As I was speaking before a room of Lay Servants and Pastors a  week ago, I found myself declaring, “God is calling us back to the prayer closet!”

It was a moment of feeling the heart of God and His desire to connect with us on a more intimate level…His desire to have one-on-one time with us without interruptions.

It is important not to forget the times of drawing near to God away from the crowd. Our public prayers are an overflow of our private prayers…..our public ministry is an overflow of our ministry unto the Lord. 

All effective ministry flows out of our relationship with God.  It’s time to be more proactive and committed to strengthening our relationship with Almighty God!!

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you…”.        James 4:8 ESV

Praying Mantis – A Word For The Church


As I was washing a load of clothes, I walked past my laundry basket that I use for dirty towels. And there perched motionless on a towel was a baby praying mantis!

As I continued watching, it slowly started moving. I transported it gently outside where it needs to be for life!!

As I was thinking about it later, I started feeling that there was a prophetic meaning to this. However, I didn’t really seek the Lord about it immediately. I usually am not slow in putting to paper what I feel the Lord is saying through a circumstance in my life. The Lord used a dear friend to give me a little push through a comment he made!

As I began praying about this, I felt led to look up some facts about this insect. And as I began to look up the characteristics…I began to get revelation of what I believe the Lord is saying to His Church.

What I saw was definitely a baby. I believe we are in the beginning of a new season of prophetic intercession. We will begin to see a new level of intercession beginning to spread throughout the body of Christ. I sensed the “baby” was referring to the beginnings of this happening…not that it was immature. On the contrary – it will be stronger, more intense, and definitely will grow quickly!

The praying mantis was sitting on top of a pile of dirty towels. These towels were getting ready to be cleaned and washed. In John 13:4-5, Jesus humbly prepared Himself for ministry (washing the disciples feet) by wrapping a towel around Himself. As He washed His disciples’ feet, He dried them with the towel. I believe we are being called to look at our “towels”…what we are “clothed in” for ministry…and see if it needs to be cleansed! And we are to make sure we are ready to humbly get on our knees for the sake of others!

One characteristic of the praying mantis is that it is aggressive in getting what it needs. I believe in this new season of intercession, we will move from being predominantly reactive to situations seen – to a position of being proactive in moving in intercession to stop those things from happening that the Lord shows us. I use the word “aggressive” here not in a negative sense, but in the sense of being assertive, bold, and energetic. (American Heritage Dictionary)

These insects can turn their heads 180 degrees to scan their surroundings with two large compound eyes and three other simple eyes located between them. I believe the five eyes symbolizes the five-fold ministry of the Church. As the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers come together in unity…the Lord will use each of the ministries to work together to bring about His Vision for His body. They will be able to “see” with greater clarity what is coming and be able to work together to prepare the Church…through declaration, decree, teaching, and prophetic intercession.

Praying Mantis are well camouflaged on the plants among which they live. We, as prophetic intercessors, will be able to move within the communities and cities in which we live under the covering of Almighty God! I believe we will not be “camouflaged” in the sense of not being seen by others…but in the sense of not being seen by the enemy of our souls – Satan. We will have supernatural protection to move in power and authority in the kingdom of God. Hallelujah!!

Finally, it was interesting when I came across the meaning of Mantis in the Greek. It means prophet or seer!! Praying Prophet!! I like that!

So, dear Brothers and Sisters, I know this is a lot – it really ended up being more than I was anticipating. But, I have written down what I believe the Lord is saying. And, as usual, I encourage you to not just accept everything that I have placed before you…but to seek God’s confirmation on the truth of it. Blessed be the name of the Lord!!
