YOM KIPPUR
For those that would like to know more about this Jewish Holiday:
Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish Calendar, begins tonight – Tuesday 11 October – at sunset. Ten days after Rosh Hashanah, the start of the Jewish New Year, it’s a major holiday for members of the faith.
1. Yom Kippur means ‘Day of Atonement’, and is a one day celebration that ends tomorrow evening. It’s also known as the “Sabbath of Sabbaths” and sometimes simply referred to as “the Day”.
2. It always takes place on the 10th day of the seventh month of the Jewish calendar – the month of Tishri.
3. It marks the end of the Days of Awe; a period of repentance, reflection, and looking to the year ahead.
4. Jews put a special focus on forgiveness during Yom Kippur. Believers dedicate the eve of the day to apologising for sins committed against others during the previous year.
5. Yom Kippur commemorates God’s covenant with the Jewish people.
6. The Day of Atonement was established during the time of Moses and is described in the Bible, in Leviticus 16. It outlines the rituals undertaken by the High Priest on that day, which was the only day he could enter the Holy of Holies; the most sacred place in the Temple and where the presence of God dwelt.
7. Christians believe that the ceremony of sacrifice God prescribes for this day directly foreshadows the coming of Christ, and his sacrifice for our sins.
8. In Leviticus 16:34, the Lord tells Moses: “This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: atonement is to be made once a year for all the sins of the Israelites,” and in chapter 23 v 28, he declares that it is to be a day of rest.
9. Jewish people often fast during Yom Kippur, and eat a large meal with family before and afterwards.
10. The wearing of white clothes is traditional, to symbolise purity.
MY SOUL…
I love it when I awaken to God’s Word flowing through my mind and spirit! As I opened my eyes this morning, I was loudly declaring in my soul (mind, will, and emotions):
“My soul magnifies the LORD!”
Now, I will declare it out loud!!
It’s a good day! Why? Because my awesome God is in it with me!!!!
ARISE CHILDREN & YOUTH!
Yesterday on World Communion Sunday, my pastor felt God’s call to have our children serve communion. It was a powerful time!
We are in a new season of time in the Church! God is raising up mighty men and women of God, mighty girls and boys of God (youth and children), for such a time as this!
Brothers & Sisters in Christ! DO NOT underestimate how powerfully God can use the younger generations for His glory!! May we not impose OUR restrictions and doubt upon what He can accomplish in and through them!
HAVE YOUR WAY, LORD!!
GET READY, CHURCH!

REVIVAL
“…he makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire.” Psalms 104:4 ESV
“Revival as an event will not suffice anymore. Events come and go, but a people who keep the fire of God burning on the altar of their hearts actually carry this fire within them…wherever they go. What we define as revival is God’s pattern for normal Christianity.” ~Larry Sparks
REVIVAL! I, along with others, have been talking about revival…praying for revival…seeking revival. I love this quote from Larry Sparks. Revival is not an event that we should seek and then when it has run its course walk away from.
But, revival should be a way of life for us! We should individually (along with corporately) be seeking revival in our lives. We should be passionately, wholeheartedly, on fire with our love for almighty God! We should not accept anything else…anything less.
Fire gives light. When people are around us do they see the Light of Christ reflected in the things we say and do?
Fire gives warmth. When people are around us do they feel the warmth of God’s love flowing from us to them? Do we give off warmth or coldness?
Fire needs to be tended to continue to burn. What are we doing to “tend” the fire? What are we doing to make sure the fire does not grow cold? Prayer, Bible Study, and worship are three things that can keep the fire burning bright in our lives. Also, we need to make sure that we share the fire with others…we don’t keep it to ourselves! As the fire of God burns brightly within us and as we go out and minister to others…we will find that the fire is continually replenished…and new fires are started when we share our fire! Hallelujah!
A “cold fire” does not accomplish anything! It is a marker of once was, but isn’t any good in the present. O CHURCH! We need to rekindle our fire! We need to release a burning passion for the LORD and for His people!!
May we BE His ministers of flaming fire!! We carry the Fire of God within us! May we continually sacrifice on the altar of our hearts all those things that would keep us from being who God has called us to be! It’s time dear saints!! Allow the Ruah of God, the breath of God – His Holy Spirit – to breathe upon the cold embers of our hearts and revive us to a higher way of life, a deeper love, a greater obedience!
REVIVAL HAS COME!! MAY WE EMBRACE IT!!

GOD’S WILL
There is such joy in knowing that we are following God’s will for our lives! I don’t have to know it all at once, Father…just show me the next step…
And how do we know that we are following God’s will?
Are people encouraged, challenged, and equipped to walk in greater love and commitment to the Lord by your actions and words? Then I would say to you that you are walking out the will of God!
Do you have a heart of compassion for others…to the point that you are willing to not only cry out to God on their behalf…but also to add “action” to your prayers? Then I believe you are following God’s will for your life!
Do you look to God as the ultimate authority and guide in making decisions that arise in your life? Do you seek Him more than the opinion of others? Are you willing to make the “hard choice” when you know it is God’s choice? Then I would say you are following God’s will for your life!!
There are more indicators than these that show God’s will is being manifested in our lives. God’s word is full of guidelines on how to “walk out” our love for God and our love for others. Please share on how you are following God’s will for YOUR life. I celebrate with you in your serving and ministering for His glory!! God bless you!!
Lord, help me to be aligned with your will! Help me to show love as I journey with You! May I be Your voice, Your hands, Your feet! Use me, Lord, for Your Glory!!
“Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:36-39 NIV)
